How effective in the combination of your main product and ancillary text?
Here is our evaluation for our final question. We decided to do a commentry on how we have linked each of our products to create a brand identity. We discuss how we have used certain similaities in each of the products such as the masks and how we think we could have created an even stronger brand identity for example mine wsa use the same colours or even use the same font in the video for the beginning and end notifications which pop up. We all discuss how each has a link to the web page, digipak and main task and say why we believe we have captured good brand identity.

Evaluation 3
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
To collect audience feedback for my main task I sent out a link to many people which included my video and a survey which I produced on surveymonkey.com. After collecting the results I have discovered that more women took my survey than men, as this was expected as at the beginning of our research we found out more women seemed to like the genre. As the results continue however it says a lot of the women seem to be out of our target audience age as they were older. This could interfere with the results as it wasn't intended for them to see it. However they all felt that it fitted in with the rock genre and all except for 1 woman understood the narrative which was my groups main worry - was the story going to be confusing; have we done enough to make a story stand out; did it need some performance elements? Another way I collected feedback for my main task was by having a discussion with the class after viewing the video then asking them questions. This was good as they were our target audience Overall the feedback we got was brilliant, they all enjoyed the video and understood the narrative. We asked them if they felt it needed some performance elements in there along with the narrative story and all said that they enjoyed it as it was as we had connected the story to the beat it didn't need people singing along as it was a good piece of footage that fitted with the song. The only improvements we were told by one of the students that one shot wasn't needed or could have been improved. This shot was when the main character looks around to see what other kids were writing, she said it looked rushed and confusing. I explained to her that that specific shot was taken by mistake and we put it in to show a point of view shot of what the boy was looking at, however we didn't originally have that shot in our plan or storyboard. Still I understood what she meant.
Feedback for my web page and digipak I got from an interview, however the people who took my survey also answered a few questions about my digipak too. From these results from the questionnaire I found out that only 50% of people who took my survey would, after seeing my front cover, want to explore the rest of my digipak, with 12.5% not wanting to at all and 37.5% considering it. This didn't shock me however as they were over my target audience and the digipak wasn't designed for their age group. However all of those people did agree that the front cover did indeed remind them of the music video which is definitely what I wanted as I wanted to create a good brand identity. My interview feedback I got from Courtney about my digipak was that she liked the front and back covers because of the effects I used with the black and white and because I used iconic imagery. She also told me that the digipak reminded her of my music video because of the images I used, for example the masks and the two symmetrical photos which I took on the filming day. However, she did say that if she saw it in a shop she possibly wouldn't look at it as it wouldn't appeal to her, possibly because of the colours. This tells me that maybe to reach a wider audience I should add some colour to my digipak and not stick to plain black and white. The only reason I did this was because lots of rock album colours involve dark colours, but I suppose this doesn't mean I can't use any colours at all.
For my web page feedback I only had an interview from Courtney, and the feedback I got from her was mainly good - she liked how I used all of my conventions. However, things to improve where that she thought I could have had a shorter forum as she felt that people would get bored of reading the amount I put on there. This is something that I would definitely consider changing if I was to continue with this web page as I'd want to keep viewers wanting to know more instead of getting bored. When I asked her if she thought it looked like a rock site, she said that it wasn't obvious, it could easily be portrayed as an indie bands site. This shocked me as I tried hard, with the colours and layout, to make it look like a rock site, but do understand that it isn't clear that they sing rock. The only way of knowing would be to play my video which can be viewed on the page. To make it look more like a rock site I could add some skulls, or dark red colours to give the impression that it is rock music that this site advertises. Overall though she liked it and I was pleased with all the feedback that I gathered as over 75% of it was positive.

Focus Group Plan
I plan on asking a focus group in my media class what they think of my main task, digipak and web page. It will be round about 4 to 5 people in the group who I will ask and it will take place in my media class where I will use the macs to record the whole discussion. I will hopefully do this focus group in maybe either one of my media class times as this is when all the other people in my class are present, or if this isn't necessary then hopefully in some free time when the class is free and so is the people who i chose to be in the group. I will ask certain questions such as:
For main task -
- What is your overall thoughts about the narrative storyline for the music video?
- Do you feel it fits with the song?
- Do you think its a powerful video even though it doesn't have performance?
- Do you think it should have some performance elements in there too?
- Would this video make you want to search for more music from the band?
- What genre of music do you think this music video comes under?
For digipak -
- What is your favourite part of the digipak?
- Would you pick it up in a music store?
- Do you think the digipak fits with the music videos iconography?
- Do you feel there is anything missing that you would have wanted to see on the digipak?
- Do you think this digipak fits with the same genre of music as you believed the video to come under?
For web page -
- Do you think this web page holds all the information needed such as the conventions?
- Do you think anything can be improved?
- Would you want to search round the website more by just looking at the web page? if yes, why?
- Can you notice the brand iconography?
- What genre of music do you think this web page is about?
I will record this discussion on the mac and then post it on the blog. This with my survey monkey questionnaires will give me all the feedback I need to complete this evaluation question.

My questionnaire
Here is my questionnaire for people to look at all of my coursework (main task, digipak and web page) and give me feedback.
My target audience is people aged 16-30 and from our feedback on the genre a while back when we did surveys for rock, we discovered that it doesn't matter if they are males or females. They need to be able to access the internet often as my web page needs internet access to look at it and most importantly they have to like rock music and feel passionate about that genre.
I feel that after they take the questionnaire I will be expecting to find that they do like our main task, web page and CD cover as I have stuck to all the conventions for each piece and made sure it fits will within that genre. I hope to get lots of responses to give me a wide range of information on what people think of my coursework. It will help with my evaluation question of 'What have you learned from your audience feedback?'

Final edits of video
Today we made some tweeks to our music video as some feedback we got from viewers said they didn't understand the ending and some of the colouring. We therefore edited the ending completely. We have made it look like the rebel kid is having some sort of brain wash when he sees the sun which causes the clips of reversing to show that his memory is somehow being erased. This then ends with a light bright after looking at the sun and then we ended with the CCTV clips turning off. We felt this was better for our audience as they will now understand it a bit more and it will make more sense. Also, the strangeness of the kids brain being brain washed will fit in with what our audience enjoy viewing anyway. We also had to change some colours of clips which we had previously forgot to do - changing the two clips with the children in masks to blue to show the difference between wearing the mask and not wearing the mask.

New banner for Webpage
I have decided to change my banner on my webpage as I felt that I needed to use my own image of my band. I have edited it a lot and have created a new banner with one of the images I took of people wearing the masks we made. I haven't this time put the American flag over the top as I felt that the image was ok on its own. I used different effects such as cartoon and some paint tools to create colour and effectiveness and come up with this. I am now happy with my web page.

Final video edit
We have finally completed our video! We changed the colours to the beginning of the video where all the students are marching and when they are wearing masks to a blue colour. We decided this because it is meant to create some cold looking shots and a feel of depression and lowness. When he takes the mask off however it is normal colour showing the difference in atmosphere when he has the mask on and when he doesn't.
He have also added a title at the beginning and end of the video which notifies what the song is, who its by, what album its on and our production name. We added in some effects for when the text comes in and we also added some colours of blue and black to match some of the video. I am pleased at how the video has turned out and what me and my group has produced.

My Web Page
My Digipak
Here is my Digipak for Hollywood Undead's Paradise Lost. It involves four still images for the front, back, inside left and inside right of the pack and also a spine. Here are the stills:
And here is my completed Digipak:
You may have noticed that the digipak I created has differences to my plans I had drawn. This is because when creating the digipak I felt that the images I took on filming day would be more effective than just a mask which I had originally wanted. The inverted picture and the black and white picture opposite one another when opening the cd is a way to show the two sides of the clones / robots. I like this one I have created much better because it goes with my brand iconography and looks like a digipak the band would have.

Video Feedback - Half Way
We have shown our video so far to members of our class and they have given us some feedback to improve our video. They noticed a continuity error whilst the young boy is at the sink, this however we cannot change but it can be missed as the shot is very quick. We also discussed with our audience about using the chroma key which would make it all black and white instead of the mask but us as a group cannot decide without it looks best to do it with or without. We will experiment with the effects for certain shots and definitely use ones such as the earthquake tool to give good effects when for example he drops the mask and screams in the microphone.
Apart from that however it was all good feedback and they thought that no changes should be made to the narrative storyline as it completely made sense.
